Website relaunch of the ift-Rosenheim with improved user experience and extended functions

The institute for window technology e. V. (ift) is a renowned, scientific institute that offers manufacturers of windows and facades a wide range of services. Since its foundation in 1966, the ift has continuously worked on the development and improvement of window technologies. With highly qualified employees and state-of-the-art testing equipment, the ift is a leader in the areas of testing, certification and research.

With around 200 committed employees, the institute has placed its main focus on testing and certifying products as well as researching and developing window technologies. The ift offers a wide range of tests, including fire tests, glass tests, acoustic tests and burglary resistance tests.

The ift Rosenheim recently underwent an extensive relaunch of its official website. For reasons of usability, the backend of Liferay CMS was switched to TYPO3. The new website has been completely revised and now presents itself with a modern design and expanded functionality. The relaunch aims to offer visitors an even better online experience and to give them easier access to the institute's extensive services.

The revised ift website not only presents an attractive new design, but also offers extended functions to meet the needs of visitors. Notable improvements include the integration of Solr, a powerful search system that allows for streamlined searches across all list views, including news, events, and certified companies. This allows users to quickly and accurately find the information they need. A specially developed solution and knowledge finder with an extensive portfolio of relevant articles and products manages to make relevant content easily accessible.

Another highlight is the fundamental revision of the customer portal called "My ift". This portal - now with the same look & feel as the website - allows registered customers to access their test reports, orders, offers and certifications. It also serves as a comprehensive project management tool that allows clients to manage their projects efficiently. Seamless integration of the project data is made possible via an interface to the customer's own CRM (based on MsSQL from Microsoft).

The relaunch of the website also includes improved user management, which enables companies to grant individual access rights to their employees. In addition, various integrations have been implemented, including the connection of Shopware and ift Tools (own software for internal management) via Keycloak. This Java-based single sign-on (SSO) system allows users to log in just once to access both the customer portal and the online store.

In2code helped design the infrastructure and continues to provide support in maintaining it. In addition, the range of services of the TYPO3 Platinum Sponsor also included the creation of the prototype as well as backend development and integration into the CMS. Together with the customer, we look forward to the planned update to TYPO3 12 in order to further optimize the website and offer visitors even more functions and an improved user experience.

Visit the ift's revised website to learn more about the Institute's extensive services, including press releases, events, solution and knowledge finders, specialist articles, job advertisements and much more. You can also register for the newsletter to stay informed about the latest developments and offers from IFT-Rosenheim.
